About us

Our Story

Hello, I am the founder of ORTHOMATS. I grew up in eastern Hungary in a home where faith was at the centre of everything. As a devout Orthodox Christian, I was raised with a deep love for tradition, prayer, and the simple, meaningful worship that bring us closer to God.

That longing led me here. I started this business to create beautifully crafted Christian prayer mats, inspired by tradition but made for believers of all Christian denominations—Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant alike. Prayer is deeply personal, and having a space that feels sacred and comfortable can make all the difference in connecting with God. My hope is that these mats will serve as a reminder of faith, a source of comfort, and a tool to enrich the prayer life of Christians around the world.

This is more than a business to me. It’s a way to honor my roots, my faith, and the traditions passed down through generations. And it’s a way to serve others, helping them create a space for prayer that feels truly special.

Thank you for being here and for allowing me to be a small part of your journey in faith. God bless you all

Why we prostrate as Christians

Prostrating is a frequent way of Prayer throughout the Bible. In verses such as:

1. Matthew 26:39
"Going a little farther, he (Jesus) fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father’

2. Genesis 17:3
"Abram fell facedown, and God spoke with him."

3. Kings 18:42
"Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground, and put his face between his knees."

4. Revelation 7:11

"All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God."

And in many other verses such as: Luke 5:12, Mark 14:35Nehemiah 8:62 Chronicles 20:18Joshua 5:14, Exodus 34:8, and so on
